Namaste
"The knowledge contained in Ayurveda deals with the
nature, scope and purpose of life, and includes its
metaphysical and physical aspects – health and
disease, happiness and sorrow, pain and pleasure.”
-Vasant Lad
As we can see from this definition, Ayurveda
deals with much more than simply health and
longevity. Seen in its whole, it is a complete path to
remembering our true nature as Spirit and being
established in the Self.
Long journeys begin with a single step. A step
towards health and balance begins with awareness,
and realignment in a new direction. Head out on
the path with intention and resolve, following it
diligently. Eventually one arrives at a place of
balance and harmony.
May all beings be with Peace,

| How does one take charge of their own health? |
 |
|
Ayurveda provides the tools necessary to both
restore and maintain health so that disease can no
longer find a foothold within the body. This is
accomplished through close attention to balance in
one’s life. Balance is the natural order; imbalance is
disorder. Health is order; disease is disorder. After
creating an optimum environment that supports the
body’s natural healing processes, the body will
respond by healing itself. Cultivating an awareness of
Ayurveda and its principles is very empowering, as it
allows us to take charge of our own health and
healing. As we gain an understanding of how to
create balance according to our own individual
constitution, we are able to make healthful choices
and to understand the repercussions when we do not.

| The Three Pillars of Life |
 |
|
The three pillars of life are a part of the bedrock that Ayurveda is
built upon. They are so important that the Caraka Samhita, a classical
ayurvedic text, states that one who manages these three pillars properly
is guaranteed a full life span that will not be cut short by disease.
The three pillars of life are the proper management digestion, obtaining
proper rest and cultivation of sattvic daily practices. When digestion
is proper, a person is able to rest well and when combined with daily
sattvic practices, the body will reach its full potential. Much of
what Ayurveda considers proper lifestyle surrounds these three pillars.
