Namaste

Life is good. Between assistant teaching for the California College of Ayurveda, teaching at UC Irvine, seeing clients and organizing a visit for Dr. Gupta to Southern California in early June, I'm having more fun than I've had in years. They say that if you follow your heart you can't go wrong. Well they were right in more ways than you can imagine.

Dr. Liladhar Gupta from Vrindavan, India will be visiting Southern California in late May and early June. I'm organizing a two day workshop on June 3rd and 4th which will be aimed at students of Ayurveda or practitioners. There will also be an opportunity to greet Dr. Gupta on the evening of June 2nd. Details will be in the next newsletter.

Ayurveda: The Art of Living to be taught at UCI! April 6 to June 14, Wednesdays, 6-9pm; 10 meetings. No class May 3rd. Presented as part of UCI extension Yoga Studies program. Enroll now!

May all beings be with Peace,

Rob

  • India Part 3: Fire Ceremony

2006.01.18 Upon my arrival in India, during my initial session with Dr. Gupta, I mentioned that one of the things I was specifically interested in learning more about mantra therapy. Mantra therapy is the use of sound (specifically in the form of Sanskrit words) for healing. Dr. David Frawley, a Western authority on Ayurveda, yoga and Vedic knowledge, has stated that mantra therapy is considered the most powerful therapy for working with the mind. All disease processes are said to start in the mind and then manifest in the digestion track and then relocate to other places in the body where western medicine gives them symptom names.

How is health and wellness created?

Ayurveda recognizes that each person has a unique mind-body constitution. Ayurveda then identifies the various components of that individual's constitution, determines where imbalances and disturbances exist, and provides education, guidance and a plan for helping the individual bring about their own improvements in health and wellness.

Simple wisdom from a trusted source

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
Be aware of when to hold your tongue, and when to use it.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Delight in the simple joys of a long walk.
